Everything I've Read This Week

It's no secret that I am a major bibliophile. If you are unfamiliar with that term, it essentially means "someone who has a great love for books." That's me in a nutshell! Loves books, and also can't freaking put them down once I stop!

Which is why, in the course of 7-10 days, I have read a total of 10 books--and one novella, but I'm not going to count that one! Yes, you read that right, ten. books. And while, yes that is a ridiculous amount of books for one person to read in such a short period of time, it also needs to be said that I am a pretty quick reader. For reference, one of the books I read this week was roughly 350 pages, and I read it in about 4 total hours. That's not a brag, it's just meant to lend context as to how quickly I can get through a book, and how I could possibly read that many books in 10 days.

It also needs to be noted that I am somebody who cannot simply put a book down once I read the end of a chapter. To me, every chapter ends on a cliffhanger. And I do NOT do well with cliffhangers. They're literally like withdrawals for me...I simply cannot quit cold Turkey without knowing what is going to happen next!

I am wondering if this is something you might relate to! That addictive feeling when you start a book and just HAVE to know how it ends! It's simultaneously the best and the worst thing in the world. I also get into major book holes when I finish a book, and move onto the next one pretty quickly.

So, 10-ish days, eleven books, and countless heartbreaks later, I am ready to give lend some insight into what I have been up to! So the remainder of this post will simply be a list of what I have been reading, a quick synopsis, and whether I think you should read it or not!

* The Off Campus Series by Elle Kennedy

-Book 1: The Deal--Follows the story of Garret and Hannah. Hannah agrees to tutor Garret in engage for helping her score a date with another boy in their class. Garret is Briar University's star hockey player, and Hannah is a vocal performance major. In the process, they develop feelings for one another, but not without a few snags along the way. This book is one of my favorites, and I 100% recommend! I give it a 4/5 star rating

-Book 2: The Mistake-- Follows the story of Logan and Grace. Logan is currently crushing on his best friends girlfriend, Hannah (from the previous book). In order to get over her, he goes on a bender of one night stands and partying. By accident, he shows up to Grace's freshman dorm room, and develops an instant connection with her. Just as they start to get close and Grace considers giving Logan everything, he reveals that he is in love with someone else. Rightfully so, she is not a huge fan of this and calls it off...or does she? I definitely didn't like this book as much as the first, but it was still good! Overall 3.5/5 stars for me.

-Book 3: The Score--Follows the story of Allie and Dean. Allie is Hannah's best friend and roommate, who has recently broken up with her long term boyfriend. In order to avoid him and work through her feelings, she goes to stay at Garret's townhouse, where she runs into notorious playboy, Dean, who has been given strict orders by Hannah and Garret not to sleep with Allie. However, things don't quite go that way, and Allie ends up in his bed that very night. What she thinks is just rebound sex, turns into feelings on Dean's end. But what they don't realize is that they have a lot to work through if they can make it work long term. I LOVED this one just as much as the first one! Dean and Allie might just be my comfort couple. 4.5/5 stars for me!

-Book 4: The Goal--Follows the story of Tucker and Sabrina. Sabrina doesn't have time to date anyone, but she does make time to get her needs met...if you know what I mean. The catch? She will only sleep with jocks. She meets Tucker at a hockey bar, where he is having drinks with his teammates. He is roommates with Garret, Dean, and Logan, and Dean harbors a deep hatred for Sabrina. However, this isn't enough for Tucker to refrain from sleeping with her. Along the way, the build not just a physical connection, but an emotional one as well. And to top it off? Sabrina ends up pregnant. I definitely didn't like this one nearly as much as the previous 3. I would overall give this a 3/5 star rating, even though I am pretty much in love with Tucker!

-Book 5: The Legacy--An epilogue style book where we learn more about the lives of the Off Campus relationships post-Briar University life. I don't want to give much away here, but it is exactly as it sounds! Honestly...was NOT a fan of this book, and was highly disappointed. I feel like the characters didn't retain much of their original fun and flavor. I would give it a generous 2.5/5.

*House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

I have already given this book it's own review, so feel free to check that one out, but yes! I would recommend! Overall, a 4/5 rating for me! Everything a fantasy "whodunnit" book should be!

*The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

Stella, a 30 year old woman who has high functioning autism, hires a male escort to help her develop her skills in the bedroom. Her hope is to learn everything she can in the ways of pleasure to help her move past her sensory aversion to being touched. But her escort, Michael Phan, turns out to be truly perfect for her, and she for him. However, he has a hidden past, and she isn't ready to disclose her autism with him. Can they maintain a professional relationship as they both develop feelings for one another?

I. Loved. This. Book. 4/5 stars, and I think everyone should read it! So good!

*November 9 by Colleen Hoover

A young couple meets for the first time at a diner in Los Angeles. While Fallon is having a more than uncomfortable lunch with her father, Ben slides into the booth and pretends to be her boyfriend to defend her against her dad. Afterwards, they spend the entire day together before Fallon leaves to move to New York City. Over the course of the day, they grow increasingly attached and mourn their eventual parting from one another. In order to keep their relationship, they agree to a no-contact order except for a plant to meet up every year on November 9 for 5 years. During this time, they are to live their lives as they would have if they hadn't met: Fallon with pursue her acting career, and Ben will write his novel about their relationship. However, each November 9 brings with it new challenges to threaten their relationship. Will they find their way back to each other?

It took me a while to really figure out how I felt about this book. It was definitely an interesting read and one I would recommend to others! Overall, I give it 4/5 stars, and really enjoyed the ending to this rollercoaster of a story!

*The Unh0neymooners by Christina Lauren

Olive's twin sister is the lucky one, while Olive is...not. In fact, she is slapped with the "unlucky" label so often, she believes it to her core. So it's her surprise that at her sister's wedding reception (which she won entirely for free), everyone gets food poisoning. Like...everyone. Everyone except Olive, and the best man and brother of the groom, Ethan...who Olive hates. Due to the unexpected illness, the newlyweds can't make it on their all inclusive, sweepstakes honeymoon to Maui, Hawaii. And not only that, but because it was a sweepstakes, it cannot be changed. So they offer it to Olive and Ethan to enjoy, since they can't do it themselves. Can Olive and Ethan stand to be around each other long enough to make it through the vacation, or will they fall for each other along the way? Honestly this book left me...disappointed. There wasn't anything inherently wrong with it necessarily, and it's definitely my type of book, but I just didn't get into it like I thought I would. Overally, I give 3/5 stars. Okay, just not what I wanted it to be!

*It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

Lily, a y0ung professional from Maine, has worked hard to leave her past behind her and start fresh. In order to do so, she moves to Boston and starts her own flower shop. Along the way, she meets charming and enigmatic neurosurgeon, Ryle Kincaid. On their first time meeting one another, he tells her he will never want a lasting relationship and just wants a one night stand with her. She declines, and they part ways, to not see one another for 6 months. Then, as she is opening her business, he unexpectedly blows back into her life, and they both realize that the flame they held for one another has only grown over time. Their relationship is near perfect until a blast from her past creates a rift between them that is not only scary for Lily, but dangerous.

I literally just finished this book like...30 minutes prior to writing this post, and...I am speechless. I know this has been floating all over the internet, and for damn good reason! This book...will probably destroy you, as it did me. I will likely do a more thorough review later this week, but wanted to toss it out there! However, I 100% recommend it. A 5/5 for me, for sure. It was captivating from start to finish! It's official...I am obsessed with Colleen Hoover.

For the sake of my fingers and your time, I am not going to review the novella I read, but honestly I wouldn't have recommended it anyways. It was just a time filler for me! But the rest of these, you can definitely pick any of them off of the shelf and and enjoy! I hope that you do and then you message me to talk to me more about them!
